Finland, April 1950

Sunday morning, we had to meet at the tram stop at 7.15am. We arrived at the Vallila stop, from where we went to Pasila station to buy tickets. The train to Leppävaara arrived quickly. At the station it started to rain. We walked to the youth house, where we sang “Exalt the joy” etc. Then we went to the sauna where we had to be. We sang and prayed. We then ate some sandwiches. We also invented activities. Sinikka and Raija invented an adjective-game. We left the ugly Käpylä to go to the beautiful Leppävaara. We were all happy to leave and so we left very early. We waited for the tram to Pasila, where we bought our tickets. The train left and we sang a brief and silent song. We arrived at the very ugly station, and we went to the youth house, which was delightful. We participated in the matins, then we played mean games. We laughed a lot, we were all mad. And we were very annoyed. Then we took some pictures and went to drink tea while doing some activities. As we came back, we sang again. We decided to go to Helsinki and directly from there to Valio to eat an ice cream. Raili asked the driver the cost of the ride, but he said he would take us to Helsinki without making us pay. We all had a lot of fun.
