The German People

Austria, 1943-1944

Together, thousands of diligent German workers help to give out bread. The farmer says, “I plow the field, I sow the corn, I cut the grain, I thresh the wheat, I work hard”.
The miller says, “I grind the grain into fine flour for you.”
The baker says, “I’ll bake it into a hearty bread for you.”
The miner says, “I hack deep into the earth to carve out the black coal for the fire in your oven.”
The train driver says, “I drive the trains loaded with flour, with grain, with milk and with coals from dawn till dusk for you”.
All together: “We work and get through together so nobody’s in need. Everyone has bread”.
